I SAVED THE FISH, inspired by the “Fisher of men”

What’s in the name “I SAVED THE FISH”? First of all, the concept of fishing for sea creatures has poetic and historic symbolism. Humans were said to be able to go “fishing for men” as much as one could fish for a fish. This symbolized helping or saving someone from the depths of difficulty or pain in order to give them a second chance or second life.

Secondly, it’s a direct reference to saving our planet. We realise how much or consumer habits have destroyed or beloved earth. Therefore, we’ve developed a concept around recycling, restoring and customizing clothes in order to promote slow fashion and upcycling. With a touch of creativity and artistic expression, we believe we can repair the past and reinvent the future together. Welcoming, reusing and transmitting ISTF’s whole creative process strives for innovation while respecting the planet and yearning to help people in need. “Saving” is the heart of our mission: on the one hand, humanitarian actions in partnership with different non-profits reflect our desire to help those in need, on the other hand, our core activity is the re-use and restoration of fabrics.

Our mission is to give a second life and second chance to clothes and to people in need. Our medium of choice to promote our mission is fashion. Using exclusively recycled materials, ISTF transforms old pieces by deconstructing them, reconstructing them and customizing them with hand embroidered master pieces.

« We believe that embroidery could save lives, make people happy and make a positive impact on the world. »

I SAVED THE FISH, THE SLOW FASHION BRAND.

“Love is a fabric woven by nature and embroidered by the imagination. ”- Voltaire -

We are I SAVED THE FISH, an eco-friendly French brand, founded in 2016, that is passionate about embroidery. In a generation where everything is fast-paced and mechanical and in an industry where craftsmanship is not recognized, where products are mass produced and where the environment is not respected, we decided needle in hand to use embroidery to promote our cry to “slow down!”. Embroidery invites one to take time, listen, meditate, respect a slower rhythm and reflect. This practice is ideal to implement a new way of thinking about fashion.

All our embroideries are hand-sewn with a lot of love, passion and patience.

SECOND HAND / UPCYCLING

Fashion is one of the most polluting industries in the world. Excessive overproduction threatens our planet and the workers who are victims of unfair treatment in this industry. Why produce new products if we can give our clothes a second life? ISTF finds and uses exclusively quality, original, second-hand fabrics or scraps for its pieces.

These are washed, reworked and recreated in order to produce unique, quality, timeless, pure and ethical designs.

GENTLY / CAREFULLY

Our creations are made in our Parisian workshop or in Madagascar in partnership with the FRIENDS OF FISH association.

All our pieces are carefully embroidered by hand. Some of our embroideries require a lot of love and patience before arriving to completion. Hours of work and sometimes weeks are spent on one piece.

AN EMBROIDERY DEAR TO YOUR HEART

We want to create pieces that resemble and look like you because everyone's personal story is important to us. Our mission is to help you write your story through embroidery. For all your customization needs, you can either bring us your own clothes, any piece of clothing that is important to you, or we provide a selection of basics for you to choose from.

Our selection of basics is composed of fully certified garments that comply with the 100 Oeko-Tex standard. They are fair wear and vegan and are guaranteed to not contain any substance which is dangerous for humans or the environment. All the water that is used to produce the cotton for these basics is recycled.

OUR ACTIONS WITH MADAGASCAR

Some of our designs like the work suit comes directly from Madagascar. It is a work uniform, which pays tribute to the laborers living Madagascar who are victims of poverty and pollution. Some of our embroideries are created in partnership with Friends of Fish, a non-profit association which supports Malagasy craftsmen to live from their passion.

Thanks to these collaborations, we hope to bring them more income stability, fair trade and an education for their children.
